Devil's Bridge in Rhodope Mountains
bTOURISM is going to present you a unique place - Dyavolski most (Devil's Bridge). It is a mystic place, it is a monument of culture and it is one of the best locations for fishing.
The Mysticism
This place is mystical not only because of its name. A lot of strange things had happened there. Even the local inhabitants are afraid to pass the bridge when it gets dark outside. There are a few legends about this place. One of it says that the master’s wife died while he was making the bridge. So he build her shadow in it. That’s why the bridge is so stable. Another story says that you can see the devil’s foot imprinted in the rocks.
The Landmark
The Dyavolski most is situated 10 km from the Bulgarian town of Ardino in the Rhodope Mountains. It was built in 15th century by master Dimitar. It is not reconstructed till now. The bridge is 56 m long and has three arches, but also features holes with small semicircular arches to read water level. It is part of the ancient road connecting the lowlands of Thrace with the north Aegean Sea coast.
This is one of the places in Bulgaria that is still authentic. There you won’t see retailers or coffee-houses. The only people that you can meet are some tourists heard about this amazing place or fisherman. The way to the bridge is very bad. You can use a car but we advice you to get there on foot, because the nature in this area is magnificent and you will be impressed.
The Fishing ground
Here you can find different kind of fish – Rudd, European chub, Barbell, Nase and Danube Bleak. One of the reasons that there is such a variety of fish is because the bridge is very close to artificial lake. So whatever fish you can find in the artificial lake you can find it also in here. If you ask a local fisherman where the best places for fishing are, he’ll definitely tell you: “They are all best!” So, no matter if you are a good fisherman or no, you’ll have good fish catch.
